Have you started wrapping your Christmas gifts yet?  I even shocked myself and decided to wrap my gifts early this year.  The only problem was, I bought gift bags and boxes and forgot to buy tags.   Best laid plans….but I didn’t want to wait!  Who knows, I may not be in the mood to wrap them again until the last minute like normal. So, I decided to look online for some printable gift tags.  Oh my, why didn’t I think to do this before! 10 Christmas Tree Ideas

I love seeing how everyone decorates their Christmas trees this time of year.  There’s so many great ideas that I always find something new I want to try on my own tree.  So, I put together a collection of 10 Christmas trees from some of my favorite blogs to inspire us. I love the pops of red berries and the burlap tree skirt over at Ella Claire. I don’t know what I like best, the Christmas tree over at Salvaged Sister & Mister or all the cute things she has under the tree. The Little Red Brick House tree has just the right touch of Read More →

Fall Decorations: Home Tours

I love home tours and being able to see all the different ways people decorate their homes.  So, come along with me as we visit seven of my favorite blogger’s homes and see all their fall decorations . Vanessa over At The Picket Fence talks about how getting out the fall decorations heralds the start of the fall season for her.  And just like when she was a little girl, her daughter now eagerly awaits the inaugural lighting of the orange ceramic pumpkin candle holder that used to belong to her Mom.  I enjoyed touring her beautiful home, but more than that, Read More →

Farmhouse Kitchen Makeover Ideas

I’ve been thinking more and more about making over our kitchen.  When we bought our house, a kitchen makeover was part of our plans.  The cabinets are what I call black.  They aren’t really black, but a very dark (“cheapy” looking) composite material.  Not very pretty. When I’m working on our house, I like to look at Pinterest and different blogs I follow for inspiration.  It makes it so much easier to imagine what our house might look like to see what others have done. Below are some of the ideas I’m thinking about for our kitchen makeover: Wood Floors: We’re Read More →

Fall Front Porch Ideas To Inspire You

Since the weather has turned colder and rain is on the way, I started thinking about fall decorating and a good place to start is with the front porch.  Of course, the web is the first place I go for inspiration and I found seven fall front porch ideas that I thought I’d share with you. Refresh Restyle decided to keep it simple utilizing mums and pumpkins, both easy to find at your local store.  It was a good choice because they seem to pop against the brick entry.  I also love the fall wreaths which look great against the brown Read More →

How To Decorate Cottage Style

One of my favorite home decor styles is Cottage Style. It is very versatile and includes a number of different styles in addition to what is commonly referred to as Cottage Style.  These include Farmhouse, French Country, Coastal or Beach, Romantic Cottage and English Cottage. There are certain characteristics common to all these styles and some that are peculiar to each. So, what should you look for when decorating in each of the different cottage styles? Farmhouse: This style is relaxed and casual and has a simple, functional design reminiscent of farmhouses from times gone by. Included are white painted cabinets, Read More →

Summer Flowers In My Garden

One of my favorite things this time of year is being able to walk around outside in my garden and enjoy all the summer flowers that are blooming.  I love my backyard and I’m only able to enjoy it for a few months each summer, so I like to take advantage of the good weather. I couldn’t believe all the blooms on my blue hydrangea this year.  I’m almost embarrassed to tell you this, but for about the first three years we lived here neither of my hydrangeas had any blooms at all. Then, I read online that the blooms Read More →
