What is the one thing that is the perfect addition to a cup of soup or chili? For me it’s a nice fluffy roll, biscuit or cornbread. Since I recently posted a collection of soup recipes from some of my favorite bloggers, I thought I would followup with a roundup of bread recipes that I want to try. (Be sure to click on the name of the bread to go to the recipe)
How about Soft 100% Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls from An Oregon Cottage. They are light and fluffy and taste “oh so good” with the addition of butter and honey to the recipe. Jami has included step-by-step instructions to make them easy to make.
Another easy to make dinner roll recipe is from The Kolb Corner. “Buttery Dinner Rolls In The Bread Machine” are not only easy, but they can be made ahead and still remain soft or you can freeze them until you’re ready to bake.
Easy Paleo Biscuits from Cook Eat Paleo are not only gluten and dairy free, but quick and easy to make as well. They freeze well and can go straight from the freezer to the oven to reheat.
Another quick and easy to make recipe from The Crazy Craft Lady. Simple Savory Biscuits start with a baking mix and adds bacon and shredded cheddar cheese. They would be great with soup, but Aimee and her kiddos enjoy them for brunch with addition of some fresh fruit.
What goes better with soup or chili than cornbread. The Cornbread Muffins Recipe over at Julie Blanner takes it to the next level with the addition of jalapeno and shredded cheddar cheese.
Garlic Cheese Beer Bread from Today’s Creative Life is quick and easy and makes one regular size loaf. Not only is it the perfect addition to a cup of soup, but it would make a great gift around the holidays.
Did you notice one thing that was common to most of these bread recipes? They’re easy to make. My favorite kind! I wish I had more patience when it comes to baking, but truth be told, I am usually drawn to recipes that are quick and easy to make.
Did you find a recipe or two that you want to try? I know I did and since it’s raining today, I think I’ll try out one of the recipes above with a cup of soup or stew.
