Container gardening is one of my favorite ways to garden. It’s so much easier to use my potting bench instead of having to bend over to plant flowers in the ground. And at my age, that’s an important consideration.
Not only that, but it allows me to move flowers that are currently blooming to prominent places around the yard and on my porch and deck.
I always like to see what other people have done, so I’ve put together a collection of container gardening ideas to use as inspiration when planning our container gardens.
I love this idea over at Cottage At The Crossroads. I’ve seen topsy turvy planters before, but I really like the combination of the lavender flowers against the galvanized buckets. This one is a table top application, but it would be just as easy to make one that sits on the ground.
What a great color combination in this Empress Of Dirt raised planter. The white daisies, pink geranium, and whatever the little purple flowers are just seem to pop against the wood of the planter.
Now here’s a great idea that At The Picket Fence came up with for her party drink table. The pretty pink flowers in different shades really adds to the party atmosphere.
This is such a lacy design on the wall planter that An Extraordinary Day has shared. I love the color combination of purple, white, and yellow. It looks really good against the grey wall and black wrought iron planter.
What a great variety of different containers The Thrifty Couple used in their container garden. I like the way they showcase each plant. The “ladder shelf” is another great idea.
Our Southern Home has used a red, white, and blue theme for this container garden. I love the flowers in the white vintage planter and isn’t that “flag” box planter so cute? It would look great on a buffet table for a 4th of July party.
Designing Wilder has made good use of this vintage farm cart. It looks great in their garden along with the old watering can and wire gate.
Looking at all these container gardening ideas definitely has me in the mood to add a few new ones to my collection. I have an old tin bucket that holds some of my favorite day lilies, but I’m going to be on the look out at garage sales this year for some new and interesting looking containers. How about you?
