‘Hi, I’m Sandy and I’d like to welcome you to “Shady Meadow Cottage”! I’m so glad you stopped by.
I have enjoyed decorating my home ever since I purchased my first house many years ago. So when my husband retired and we decided to downsize into a smaller home, the first thing we did was start adding those personal touches that would turn our house into a home.
We’re lucky that when it comes to decorating, our tastes are very similar. We both love the cottage farmhouse style and enjoy using white bead board, architectural detail like crown molding and baseboards, pastel colors and vintage accessories.
I’m always coming up with new creative ideas for changing the look of our house and he is usually pretty good about figuring out how to actually make it work. Since we’re always trying to do it on a limited budget, we often use items people give us or that we find in garage sales.
It is my goal to share those ideas , DIY projects, and inspiration with you to help you turn your house into a cozy, pretty, nurturing home for your family.
I love to share:
Home Decor – I lean toward cottage and farmhouse style when decorating my home. As I mentioned above I love painted bead board, crown molding, baseboards and vintage items. I also love flowered china dishes and tea cups, baskets, wicker and lace curtains. Anything that will give our home that cozy, cottage, farmhouse look.
Garden Decor – I feel the outside should also be a place where you can relax and recharge and I like carrying the cottage, farmhouse theme into the garden as well. I love things like a winding garden path, park benches, day lilies, a white picket fence, wicker furniture and container plants.
Recipes – Cooking is not my favorite thing to do, so my husband does most of the cooking. I know, he spoils me! But since we are trying to improve our health by eating better, I’m going to be trying new recipes and experimenting with different foods than we usually eat, so from time to time I’ll be sharing what I’m up to in the kitchen.
Out and About – We live in the Seattle area, so I will be sharing some of the beauty surrounding us, as well as some of the places we like to visit like gardens, cute little towns with cottage style shops and antique.
