Container Gardening Ideas

Container gardening is one of my favorite ways to garden so I’ve put together a collection of container gardening ideas to use as inspiration.  Plus, it’s so much fun to see what others have done in their gardens. I like container gardening because it allows me to move flowers that are blooming around the yard and to add color to my porch and deck.  Not only that, but it’s so much easier to pot plants in containers using my potting bench instead of having to bend over to plant them in the ground.  And at my age, that’s an important Click Here To Read Full Post →

Snow Storm – Can’t Get Out Of The Driveway

It’s a good thing we had just been to the grocery store and stocked up on food because after the recent snow storm, we have over a foot of snow in our driveway and we don’t even want to try to get our little PT Cruiser out.  Now I know that most people would just shovel the snow out of the driveway, but at our age that would not be such an easy task.  Besides, since we’re both retired, we can just stay home for a few days in a nice warm house and enjoy the snow from inside. I couldn’t believe all the blooms on my blue hydrangea this year.  I’m almost embarrassed to tell you this, but for about the first three years we lived here neither of my hydrangeas had any blooms at all. Then, I read online that the blooms Click Here To Read Full Post →

Outdoor Dining

Here in the Pacific Northwest, warmer weather and summer are slow in coming.  We have started to see a few warmer days and more sun and that has me thinking ahead to being able to enjoy outdoor dining again this year. Our last house had a wonderful deck out front and my husband and I enjoyed many meals outside. I don’t know why, but it felt like a picnic even when we didn’t go anywhere. Then after dinner we used to just relax and watch the traffic go by. It reminded me of times gone by when people would sit Click Here To Read Full Post →

Watson’s Nursery: Spring Flowers

Spring has arrived and that means I start thinking about Spring flowers.  And that means I start thinking about a trip to my favorite nursery, Watson’s Nursery in Puyallup, Washington.  Not only do they have the best flowers and plants in the area, but they have the best gift and home decor all attractively displayed as well as a large section with indoor plants and garden supplies. I always find something I want to add to my house or garden and this trip was no exception.  Look at those red geraniums.  They would look wonderful sitting on the steps leading Click Here To Read Full Post →
